PipeClean™ Eliminates Iron Buildup Saving Operator $180,000+ Per Year

Annualized Environmental ROI

Their Challenge

A large gas gathering plant was experiencing iron sulfide buildup in the inlet slug catchers due to field line pigging. The buildup was so severe the operator was manually cleaning each vessel every six months. Upon inspection, we determined the vessel skin temperature variations indicated a large amount of solids built up in each vessel.  The sample analysis showed high amounts of iron sulfide combined with other inorganic iron compounds.

Our Solution

To address the high amount of buildup in each of the vessels, we developed a customized PipeClean™ blend that was implemented with both vessels remaining online. We took regular temperature measurements of the vessel skin to monitor the rate at which the solids were being removed.

Their Success

The visual inspections of the vessels showed successful removal of the solids.  This resulted in the elimination of waste hauling and disposal, and a significant increase in the throughput of the product.  Further, the safety factor was increased due to eliminating the need to manually clean the vessels every six months.  Because of our customized solution using PipeClean™, their maintenance costs were reduced by more than $180,000 per year.
