CorrClean™ Technology Reduces Energy Cost For Crude Oil Line By Over $1,000,000 / Year
CorrClean technology has been shown to significantly reduce energy costs for crude oil lines. The technology is able to reduce the overall energy consumption required to move natural gas or crude oil through a pipeline. This decrease in energy consumption due to a bare metal clean line can also reduce or eliminate the need for drag reducers, further decreasing operating costs.
In one specific case, the CorrClean technology was implemented and resulted in a reduction from 0.6 kWh/barrel of crude in energy consumption to just .3 kWh/barrel. Given that the pipeline was moving over 100,000 barrels per day and energy costs were .12 cents per kWh, the implementation of CorrClean saved over 1.3 million dollars in pipeline pump energy costs.
An additional benefit of utilizing CorrClean technology was a significant reduction in corrosion rates, as the bare metal clean lines were less susceptible to under-deposit corrosion. This benefit was achieved using the OGS custom pigging program in combination with the CorrClean™ technology.
Overall, the implementation of CorrClean technology and a custom pigging program has proven to be the lowest cost and most effective solution for reducing energy consumption and minimizing corrosion in crude oil lines.
